As you can see, I’ve decided to write new posts in English to practice my writing in the language. Over the past few years, I tried to avoid using English—or any language other than Chinese—to write. That’s because my writing skills aren’t great, even in my native language, let alone in English.

But recently I realized it’s necessary for me to practice writing, not only for exams but also for the future. Anyway, this is an explanation for the language change on the blog. I’ll consider writing some technical posts in both languages, maybe xd.

Honestly, I haven’t really participated in open-source projects; I’ve mostly just used them. But even for my resume, it’s better to do something that makes my GitHub account look more polished. So I started to build some small tools not long ago; I’m going to release them in a few days. During this process, I rediscovered my enthusiasm for coding. After getting tired of doing “dirty work” in the lab and writing code I don’t actually care about, I started to wonder whether I was really interested in coding or computer science. But a little toy project helped me find the answer: yes. The feeling of creating something and getting a machine to do what you want is great.

BTW, choose your mentor carefully when you become a graduate student, or you could end up in a **miserable** situation. That’s advice from my own experience. Anyway, take care of yourself and be well.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

3

post-362","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-essay
["GET
